Hamas says it is still waiting for Israel to follow the humanitarian rules of the Gaza ceasefire deal. A Hamas spokesperson, Abdul Latif Al-Qanoua, said his group is ready to keep its promises under the deal. However, he accused Israel of not meeting its obligations.
He said that Israeli forces have attacked Palestinian civilians, causing deaths and injuries, and have also delayed the return of people displaced from northern Gaza. Hamas claims that Israel is blocking important aid like shelter materials, fuel, and machines needed to clear debris, and is also slowing the delivery of medical supplies to help Gaza’s hospitals.
Al-Qanoua accused Israel of using banned weapons against civilians and called for international groups to investigate what he called war crimes. He also added that although Hamas is ready to work on the next phase of the ceasefire, talks have not started because of delays by Israel, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Hamas has shown flexibility by working with Egypt on plans for a national government in Gaza that would serve the Palestinian people and keep the area free from outside control. The group also asked the Arab League to support these efforts and prevent any projects that might harm Arab security.
